The Psychology Department and the Animal Studies Program are honored to host our first Fulbright Scholar in Residence. Dr. Michal Pregowski, an Assistant Professor at the Warsaw University of Technology, will be spending the 2014-15 academic year at EKU. Dr. Pregowski holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and an M.A. in Journalism and Social Communication, both from the University of Warsaw. His research interests include animal studies and the sociology of human-canine interactions. While at Eastern he will be involved in a wide range of activities on campus and in the community. He is teaching ANS 200 Introduction to Animal Studies this semester and is planning to teach ANS 400 Senior Seminar in the spring. Dr. Pregowski will also be pursuing research on pet cemeteries, exotic pet-keeping, and coping strategies of animal shelter personnel, from a cross-cultural perspective. He plans to involve EKU students in his work, training them in how to collect and analyze research data. He will also be collaborating with EKU faculty on several research projects. Beyond teaching and research, Dr. Pregowski will be speaking to EKU student and community groups and to students at the Model Laboratory School.
Dr. Pregowski is a citizen of Poland. He is married, has one young son and another child on the way.
